Deepika Padukone leaves no stone unturned with her hair and makeup looks at Cannes, and she did not disappoint on her second evening at the festival. In the morning, Padukone stepped out in a blue and white striped pantsuit which she paired with easy second-day hair, her signature matte skin, and a dark rose coloured lip. Makeup artist Sandhya Shekar mixed things up with a shimmery pink eyeliner on the top lid.

For the second look of the day, Padukone wore a black and neon gown by Off-White that she accessorised with neon sunglasses. The makeup and hair look stayed similar—lived-in waves and a rose-pink lipstick.

Straight after, Padukone wore a sheer Philosophy outfit paired with a significantly different beauty look. Hairstylist Gabriel Georgiou pulled her strands back into a messy ponytail with volume at the crown, and Shekar painted on a darker brick red lipstick with a darker lip liner as an outline. She also piled on mascara on the top and bottom lashes.

For her fourth appearance, Georgiou raked her hair into a top knot, tight at the crown but with messy wisps in the bun. While the lip colour stayed the same (a burnt rose), Shekar buffed in a taupe eyeshadow all over the eyelid to add dimension.

For the fifth and final look of the night, Padukone dialled the glamour quotient back up to the max. She wore her hair in a bun with a turban wrapped over, and chose glossy makeup with a smoked-out eye and rose-pink lip. Wearing a hair accessory like a turban or hair band can level up a simple hairstyle in seconds, and Padukone showed us how to make it red-carpet appropriate. We broke down a step by step breakdown of all the products and steps you need to do this look yourself.

For a dewy look, start with a hydrating moisturiser like Augustinus Bader's The Cream. Once it has fully soaked in, buff in a long-wear foundation like the MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation, focusing on areas of redness or dark spots. Conceal under the eyes as well. Then use a fluffy brush to swirl on translucent powder into the skin to help absorb excess oil and create a fuller coverage. Focus on the T-zone, as this gets the most greasy through the day. Apply a bronzer like the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel around your hairline, and below the cheekbones and chin. Choose a shade only two or three shades darker without any shimmer to create a more natural looking sculpt rather than an all-out contour. Swipe on a gel highlighter like L'Oréal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator on the high planes of the face where the sun naturally hits—the cheekbones, brow bones, bridge of the nose and cupid's bow. Dab on a liquid-gel blush like Elizabeth Arden Gelato Crush Cool Glow Cheek Tint that dries glowy and sheer. For the brows, choose a cream-pomade like Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow, which provides highly-pigmented colour to shape arches for fuller, bolder brows. Apply this with a slightly damp brow brush to get super saturated colour, and make small, measured strokes in an upward direction to mimic real eyebrow hair. If you have especially sparse sections, fill them in with an eyebrow pencil for specific placement. Then use a brow gel and brush brows upwards to separate and set them. For the eyes, chose a nude eyeshadow on the entire lid, and then use a darker brown eyeshadow on the crease to blend outwards. Use a brown eyeliner to make a thin line on the upper and lower lids and then smudge them out. Apply two coats of a volumising mascara to curled lashes. Apply a light pink lipstick to the lips, and then line them with a shade darker to create definition. Coat strands with a styling creme to add weight and definition. Create a middle part with a pintail comb, and then blow out hair with the diffuser attachment on, before using a flat-iron to render hair completely straight and frizz-free. Spritz on a smoothing spray like the IGK Good Behaviour Spirulina Protein Smoothing Spray to impart high-shine gloss to the entire length of your hair, focusing on the roots, and then twist the hair into a bun at the nape of the neck.
