US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that his administration may be preventing travel from the United States to areas with high rates of coronavirus infection, but he made it clear that officials are not considering imposing any restrictions on domestic travel, while the number of deaths from the virus has increased in the United States.
Trump, who was speaking to reporters before a visit with US health researchers, to discuss the spread of the virus, said he was considering preventing travel to areas affected by the virus.
The US President's remarks came in conjunction with the announcement by "CNN" that the number of coronavirus deaths has risen to 9, all in Washington state, in the far northwest.
And Monday, King County health sector official Dr. Jeff Duchen said, "The risk of all of us becoming infected will increase."
"Although the majority of cases will be minor or moderate, the infection can cause a serious disease and there is an existing possibility that many people will infected with the disease," he added.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had warned that the outbreak in the city had become "unavoidable" after the first confirmed case of a health-care worker who had visited Iran recently.
"There is no doubt that new cases will be registered. It is New York. We are the gateway to the world," Cuomo told reporters.
