Weekly health tip: reduce sugar!

My next health tip I guess it's harder than it sounds but I encourage you to reduce sugar!

THE PROBLEM
The big problem is not only you probably eat sweets like chocolate way too much but you also add sugar in your coffee/tea but meanwhile forgetting that most of the products already have added sugar!

WHY REDUCE SUGAR?
Well it's obviously bad for you and I'm sure you've heard/read about it a million times... but why?

Here a just a few reasons:
- added sugar contains no essential nutrients,
- added sugar is high in fructose, which can overload your liver,
- it's highly addictive,
- leading contributor to obesity,
- bad for your teeth, etc.

GOOD VS BAD SUGAR
Of course there is a huge difference between good and bad sugar!
Good sugar. Fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains contain simple sugars. When simple sugars are naturally found they come with vitamins, minerals, protein and fiber. The presence of fiber makes a significant difference because it slows down the absorption of sugar which moderates its impact on blood sugar.

Bad sugar. On the other hand. Any type of sugar is added to foods during processing, cooking or at the table, you consume calories without any nutrients or fiber. This type of sugar is called added sugar.

So get your sugar from healthy sources such as fruits, vegetables and in natural sugar sources such as honey and agave. Your body will thank you!

You don't have to stop eating sugar just over the night! Educate yourself, read product labels, don't get fooled by free sugar products and eat good sugar. Try to reduce added sugar and with baby steps you'll see that you actually don't need that much of it. The hardest thing I think is to reduce sweets and you shockingly realize that sugar really is really like an addiction! But you can do anything if you put your mind to it! Balance is the key! Have a treat if you feel like it but remember. YOU control sugar intake not the other way around!

Don't forget...
