A women's handbag contains all sorts of secrets : make-up, money, diary, the key to the mysteries of life, etc....But I'm focusing on the make-up - for now! I have a huge amount of product which I get sent, get at discount, buy, beg or steal and it's gotten to the point where I have one shoebox full, a canvas bag full, a small kit in my handbag, a drawer full and I recently gave some away. A girl can only have so much!!! So I decided to see what I travel with all the time and why....
My first MAC product. I was talked into it by a very persuasive sales man in Brown Thomas Grafton Street and I've had it ever since. It's worn down to a small nub, but I do love the color. The only issue I have is that since I've discovered Ruby Woo I don't really wear this anymore. I find it fades after a while and your left with a line because of the slightly gloss to the stick. I like it as its not too outrageous compared to the other MAC lipsticks I have (orange anyone?) and can be worn everyday. It does require replacing every now and again, so if your the type of women who can top up a lipstick when needed every half hour - this one is for you!'Untitled' by Martin Margiela. This was a gift from a company - I will stress that. I haven't made my mind up yet. I'll be honest. I've been spraying it for some time now and I'm never sure what it smells like or if I like it. This was the first perfume release by the company in twenty years and the bottle made press worldwide. I don't normally wear perfume because to be honest, I never remember to buy it! I always waft through the perfume aisles in shops to get to the more exciting things like the brightly colored lipsticks. So this is a new one for me. The smell is supposed to be ' A huge armful of plants harvested after the rain' and I have to say, the smell is not floral at all, but plant-y. It smells more like grass then petals. It does have a woody aroma to it as well, which could explain why I am not sure if it's for me or not. Given that I like Dior, Hugo Boss and Marc Jacobs - which are in no way woody.
Ignore the rest of the stuff in this picture. I only care about the small silver pot at the top. I became a fan of Anastasia cosmetics after E went to Canada and brought me back a small pot of it. I'm running low and freaking out, so I'm going to have to figure out where to buy online. It just works so well. Before that I used an Avon eyeliner stick. I will not go out of the house without having my eyebrows done. It's unsightly! I don't mind leaving off the lipstick and mascara. But my eyebrows must be done each morning. Being a blonde, I have barely there eyebrows and a simple five minutes to do my brows will help shape my face and definition. I've found the website, and the pot is only $22 so prehaps I will replace it!
My ultimate product. I get so much sent to me that it's rare I buy the same product over and over and over again. I currently have four of these floating around various handbags. I love them. Bright, vibrant and with the staying power of the gods - this is the ultimate lipstick. I would recommend that you spend time matching your red shade to your skin tone. I am bleach blonde with white skin and green eyes so ruby suits me perfectly. However it took four years of experiments with less brands before I found the perfect shade.
Make-up forever brushes. I have to carry a brush for my eyebrows. I have used other brushes before but I love this one. The make-up forever angled brush. It works so well with the eyebrow shader and the shaped bristles mean that shaping my eyebrow is surprisingly easy.
MAC studio fix. I have loved this for years, but it was only two years ago that I caved and bought my first bottle. I wear it nearly everyday. Especially if I know I am going out to an event and need all day make-up. This has excellent staying power and covers everything. I do mean everything. There is no blemish, line, bruise too strong for this wonder product. It's pricy but it lasts. It's really worth investing...
L'Oreal. I am new to L'Oreal . I didn't use it for years as my sister was a convert and I fancied myself as a better judge (an older judge certainly!) of cosmetics. But this came in a press bag and I tried it curiously, months later it is a definate repeat addition to my make-up bag. It curls, lengths and I'm sure as the ad would say, strengthens lashes. I normally combine this with at least three other mascaras to get a completely different effect. But I'm really not pushed about mascara. I find it boring and my lashes are so useless that they don't grow, curl and are pathetically short. I use mascara but I am not bothered if I forget about it.
So there you have it. All my stuff. There is also a Dior Lipstick in there (which I am amused by - not a fan of), a concealer from M Store (which I love), Benefit's Benetint (which I am indifferent about) and a Chanel nail varnish (which I downright hate but like including so I look cool - is it working? Am I cool yet????)
I'm going to do a beauty product round up at some point when I am less tired!
