Solomon Does Natalia Kills Proud with "Saturday Night" Cover

While promoting his impressive third extended play, Le Garçon, genre-bending hip-hop artist Solomon still found the time to record a solid cover of Natalia Kills' brilliant, autobiographical "Saturday Night", off her recent album, Trouble. The experimental musician is allowing fans into his personal life, a troubled story he does not often share. Feeling a strong connection to Kills' tragic ballad, the new cover sounds honest as Solomon gives a commendable vocal performance.

As he prepares for the anticipated late 2014 release of his official debut album, Why Boys Cry, Solomon is keeping the positive momentum rolling with his own unique spin on "Saturday Night". While retaining the underlying essence of the song, the artist provides a touch of his hip-hop background with the addition of an edgy verse. One would like to think the new release would even receive the stamp of approval from the talented goth princess herself.

"Perfect hair framing movie star faces, beautiful boys with criminal cases, waking up next to nameless faces, spitting game reciting Dawson Creek phrases," Solomon sings on the added rap verse, a small, unique taste of the singer's immense skills that do not taking anything away from the original. Kills' version was already flawless, but Solomon allows the song to expand its audience reach by giving it a tough, male perspective. The track is one that should not be overlooked, no matter who is singing it.

To accompany the cover, Solomon traveled to New York City to film the music video which seems to portray a crazy night in the life of the artist. Goofing around with friends on the streets, living it up in a local club, smiling, giving face, looking sexy, the visual is a real, behind the scenes depiction of the song's heartbreaking lyrics. Though there is not any choreographed routines or high fashion style as seen in Solomon's recent video releases, the new "Saturday Night" seems more true to him as an artist. It's dark, it's gritty, it's personal, it's perfect.
