Products of the Week: Retro Socks, Camp Knives and "No-Sweat" Sweaters - InsideHook

Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of them. Today: retro-inspired socks, a no-nonsense camp knife and sweaters you won’t sweat in.

Everlane No-Sweat Half-Zip Sweater

We don’t normally think of sweaters as breathable, heat-venting and moisture-wicking, but this handsome layer from Everlane utilizes recycled COOLMAX Eco yarn to accomplish that feat. Early-to-mid fall has a new wardrobe staple. (Er, but now it’s sold out. Sorry. We’re sure it’ll be back soon.)

The Runwell Field Watch 41mm by Shinola

An ode to the manufacturing acumen of Detroit during the Second World War, the RFW features a carbide-coated stainless steel case that’s exponentially more scratch-resistant. Add in a dial with heavy-printed luminous numbers and a thicker nylon strap, and you’ve got a rugged ticker that’ll survive any conflict.

Fleur de Miraval

“Brad Pitt made a rosé Champagne” is going to be your headline, but the actor already co-owns Château Miraval in Provence, so he’s got some vino experience. Plus, he now joins forces with the Péters family in Champagne, who have been making wine for over a century. Only 20,000 bottles are being produced.

Young Joe Biden Black Tank

It would appear that Joe Biden’s team has discovered the art of the thirst trap (posting an attractive photo in order to elicit attention), as evidenced by this particular piece of merch: a black tank top featuring a picture of a young Joe Biden. The picture has made the rounds on Twitter before, garnering a lot of attention for Biden’s handsome (and almost unrecognizable) looks. The tank top stands out against the rest of the merchandise, most of which is fairly generic, so we’ll just chalk it up to Biden hoping to (literally) attract a certain younger demographic.

Filson x Buck Knives 104 Compadre Camp Knife

This limited edition Filson x Buck 104 Compadre Camp Knife is not one to be messed with. The drop-point hollow-ground blade is made with a durable 5160 spring steel and features a Blaze Orange Cerakote finish that prevents rust and adds some visibility if you lose it in the woods. Oh, and it can break down a buck, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Blundstone 150th Anniversary Boots

So many boots, so little room in your closet. But should you be looking to pick up a new pair for fall, there’s never been a better time to get some Blundstones, as the company is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a limited-edition pair. The #150 model takes after their iconic Chelsea boots but ups the ante with a special auburn leather upper and anniversary detailing. These beauts are available through Blundstone, as well other retailers like Huckberry and L.L. Bean.

Q Timex Reissue 38mm Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch

Timex is not particularly known for eccentric watches, its bread and butter being easy-read timepieces, classic Waterbury models and Peanuts collabs. Then, after slowly pushing the envelope with some reissued vintage models, it snapped. This week, the brand added three new colors to its Q Timex watch, including full-blown gold tone and rose-gold tone options. Are you audacious enough to pull it off? We’d like to see you try.

Parachute Men’s Waffle Lounge Set

It seems only natural that a brand designing some of the softest sheets and bedding would make the foray into loungewear, and one of our favorites has done just that. Parachute Home recently introduced their Waffle Lounge Set, a cozy pairing consisting of a crewneck pullover and jogger bottoms, available in Slate or Dusty Blue. Think of the set as kin to a sweatsuit but much lighter thanks to the mini waffle cotton, perfect for the chill that’s soon to settle in but won’t require something as heavy as fleece. Wear the set while running errands or hanging out, or wear it as it was intended — while doing nothing at all.

American Trench FW20 Retro Stripe Socks

Upgrade your sock game for the coming fall with these fun, retro-inspired numbers from American Trench. They’re made from a thick (but not too thick) natural, unbleached American cotton and feature a comfortable foot bed, making them ideal for extended wear in any type of shoe. But more than just another white sock, these bad boys feature fun stripes around the ankle, like a pair one might have worn in gym class circa the 70s, which makes them a fun but subtle addition to what might otherwise be a basic outfit.

Made In Plateware and Flatware

Wait, isn’t Made In just a cookware company? Not anymore!  This week, Made In expanded its direct-to-consumer line from the kitchen into the dining room with a line of plateware made in Stoke-On-Trent, England and flatware straight out of Italy. We’re talking plates, bowls, platters, forks, spoons and knives in a variety of styles and packages depending on how many people you’re feeding in your COVID bubble.

Vestige Chromatic Stripe Camp Shirt + Swim Shorts

Co-created with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, Vestige’s new collection pays homage to the iconic German artist (school yourself if you’re not familiar) and his groundbreaking work with color theory. What this means to you: an eye catching print in which varying stripe widths and color placements create a pleasingly harmonious overall effect. Either piece looks great on its own, but for our two pennies you should pair them and swing for the sartorial bleachers before summer ends.

Recess + Poolside.FM Keep Summer Going Capsule

CBD sparkling water brand Recess and retro-inspired radio station Poolside.FM have come together in hopes of an endless summer. The limited-time capsule includes bags, tees, bandanas and a super dope bucket hat that all exude some seriously good, chill summer vibes we wish we could hold onto forever.

Barbour x Saturdays

Barbour International has teamed up with Saturdays NYC to meld together their motorcycle heritage with that of Saturdays’ heavily surf-inspired aesthetic. The resulting collection consists of pieces that find a balance between the two seemingly opposing styles. Included is a waxed jacket (of course), this one more clearly inspired by motorcyclists, featuring a belted waist, funnel collar and removable teddy fleece lining for added warmth (in the event you actually find yourself on a motorbike). The rest of the collection primarily consists of tees, sweatshirts, a fleece pullover and accessories bearing either the Barbour International logo or a cartoonish hand throwing up a peace sign. They’re pieces they never lean too far toward either brand’s aesthetic, but strike a happy balance by remaining relatively simple.
